Measurement

  • Understand attributes of objects and units, systems and processes of measurement
  • Apply appropriate techniques, tools and formulas to determine measurement

NCTM Standards 2000

Measurement is an important skill. When students measure an object, they are describing its characteristics in terms of size, weight, length, area, volume, value or some other attribute. By doing so, they are helping others to visualize that object, and see it in their "minds eye."
