Make Connections Within Math

  • Recognize and use connections among mathematical ideas
NCTM Standards 2000

What are the major outcomes of the mathematics curriculum? The important outcomes are connections in student thinking and learning. A student should be able to connect mathematical ideas across mathematics content areas. For instance, they should understand that multiplication is a form of addition and that division is a form of subtraction. They should also be able to use computation across all content areas.
